Originally from Kyle of Lochalsh I graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 2006 I then worked as a community artist with Artlink Central. Working with groups of individuals who experience disability or disadvantage. Giving creative workshops in prisons, hospitals and community centres. I have exhibited work in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness and with a touring exhibition in the Highlands. Moving to Inverness in 2009, I am inspired by the dramatic scenery of the Scottish Highlands and Islands. I am drawn to the ever changing light and mood that is at the heart of the Highlands. A keen walker and photographer, I enjoy camping where I will do outdoor studies, taking them back to the studio to use for larger pieces. Mainly working in oil, I will try to capture the image in one sitting. I enjoy the freshness and honesty this method encourages and try to resist the urge to paint over, and lose, those initial instinctive marks.
